The web design
process...how does it work?
- This is a very simple non-technical
explanation of the web design process as it relates to the business owner. Your design
process may differ from that outlined below.
- An initial consultation is scheduled where the
needs of the site owner and his customers are assessed. (As a help here I encourage the
owner to familiarize him/her self with the internet, paying attention to the different
layouts, colors and navigation schemes commonly used. After a brief time
"cruising" the internet a person will have a very rough idea of what
layout/color scheme would benefit their business.) After we analyse and assess your needs
an initial site plan will be made showing the navigation structure and the content to be
included on each page. This is probably the most important part, this is where the basic
interaction with the consumer will be defined and put to paper before constructing the
site.

- All database structures (if required), all
product information categories, number of pages needed, and all other information that the
site owner needs to include on his site should be included in this site plan. This site
plan will also allow us to give you an estimate on the costs involved.
- After the owner has accepted the site plan the
information gathering stage starts. All of the information that the owner wants to include
on his site will need to be gathered, this includes pictures, images, text material, sales
material etc.
- After completion of the site plan and the
gathering of information/material, a temporary site will be created to "build"
the web site. The owner is encouraged to actively participate in it's design and will be
given an address to view the site while under construction. After the site is constructed
and proofed by the owner it will be published to the owners server or web host.
